The tragedy of the Indian women of my generation...

Taught to obey, blindly follow, never argue, always agree with elders and male family members (older or younger - didn't really matter - as long as it was a male!), stay in emotional imprisonment and fear always and never ever fight back. Parents, in-laws, brothers...all demanded their due and got it by all means fair and unfair - our conditioning didn't allow us to do anything else. So we conformed...

As a mark of rebellion to the conditioning we raised children with an extremely opposite view. We taught them not to conform,to have minds of their own, to question. But where has that left us?? We have ended up obeying, blindly following, never arguing, and always agreeing with our children, living in fear and never fighting back because we are emotionally crippled...and scared of what the future might be if we don't conform...
